About BioCARE

BioCARE is a governmental supported strategic cancer research program shared between universities of Lund and Gothenburg. The overall aim is to promote research of highest international standard and to facilitate the translation of acquired knowledge to Society – in the case of BioCARE, Health Care and Industry are the natural partners.

BioCARE was granted support during 2009 and started its activities 2010. The research program focuses on biomarkers in cancer (see further information under About BioCARE ), their discovery, utilization in health care and translation to wider communities. Biomarkers are crucial tools to diagnose and stage cancer types, predicting outcome of different therapeutics, as well as monitoring pharmaceutical development. Such biomarkers might also be putative treatment targets.

BioCARE will combine cutting-edge omics platform know-how and availability of extensive tumor biobanks with close multi-disciplinary collaboration between senior cancer researchers from two universities and two university hospitals. BioCARE is built around a research school for PhD students and young post docs and will support selected clinical studies monitoring treatment responses, event free and overall survival by biomarkers.
